DAM artifact

For gender equality in sport through digital media art

The project Parallel 3 is materialized in an artifact of Digital Art Media (DAM), with the shape of a cube of about 40 cm and with several oval holes. In addition to the dark holes, which call attention to peeking, it includes mirrors (for distorted reflections) and moving images transmitted on screen, as well as a camera that films the visitor peeking and his live transmission (like a mirror, also a distorted image) on another screen, leading to reflection on the topic in question.

The MAD artefact, due to its simultaneously artistic and technological nature, runs the expected positive 'risk' of becoming an artistic and cultural action-intervention inducer, interactive and with communicative and educational expression. It is intended to overcome the eventual but natural tension that may exist between (in)utility and aesthetics. the artifact Parallel 3 aims to be an artistic object, although also an object of experience, hoping to leave a personal, creative and original imprint.

The content of the project and artifact Parallel 3 does not end in the exhibition space. The physical experience is expanded to the digital through some of MAD's technological options, in a transmedia narrative. Thus, technology is used to present virtual objects, hashtags, memes, and link to digital platforms on the Internet with additional content, in which artivism (also digital) is transversal.

The artifact Parallel 3 will assume an important role, a means through which one can assess, for example, the interaction between the public and the exhibition, as well as the engagement and awareness of the activist cause. The aim is thus to draw attention to the cause of gender inequality.
